Our Mission

Our core mission is twofold:

1. To actively support and rehabilitate victims of political repression who have endured physical or mental harm.

2. To foster and educate on the principles of democratic society, empowering a new generation with the knowledge and tools for civic engagement and freedom.

We believe that democracy is not just a system of governance but a living culture that requires protection, nurturing, and active participation.

Who We Are & What We Do

Founded on the principles of human dignity, freedom, and solidarity, the Democracy Angels Foundation translates its mission into action through several key pillars:

1. Direct Support for Victims & Families:
We provide comprehensive assistance to those persecuted for their political beliefs and their families. Our support includes:

• Legal Aid: Navigating complex judicial systems and defending rights.

• Financial & Material Assistance: Offering crucial humanitarian support to alleviate immediate hardships.

• Holistic Care: Addressing the psychological and physical wounds inflicted by repression.

2. Educational & Democratic Empowerment:
Education is the cornerstone of a resilient democratic society. We develop and run innovative programs, most notably our "School of Life in a Democratic Society," which blends practical life skills with deep civic education. Our goal is to build a robust democratic consciousness from the ground up.

3. Cultural & Advocacy Initiatives:
We organize and co-organize a wide array of public events to stimulate dialogue and celebrate freedom:

• Conferences, political debates, and expert forums.

• Language competitions, cultural festivals, and history days.

• Promotion of democratic thought through books, blogs, films, and media projects.

Our Flagship Projects: Summer 2024 for Children

Demonstrating our commitment to future generations, we are proud to announce our funded summer projects for 2024:

• Italy Helps Children with Cancer and Supports Their Families: A compassionate initiative offering care and respite for children battling illness and their supportive families.

• Vacations in Italy: Italian Language and Culture: An immersive educational program for children to experience the richness of Italian language, history, and culture.

Program Details: Running from July to August, these projects cover accommodation, transportation, travel, and visa costs. Registration deadlines vary by country and graduation dates.
